Michigan Men in the Civil War Project: Elden Davis of Howell, Michigan, has been researching those Michigan men who served in units of other states and in U.S. service, also those men in th Michigan cavalry regiments who after the war was over found themselves posted to the far West for Indian fighting duty.

Probably the most recognizable of these are the four Michigan companies which served in the two regiments of Berdan's U.S. Sharpshooters. Another group were the three companies from the area of Battle Creek, men who joined up with the Second Missouri Cavalry (known as Merrill's Horse).

He would greatly appreciate any information you might have on these men. And, "in like spirit, I would be more than willing to assist any with their projects that have a Michigan connection".
I can certainly attest to that.
