Miles Adams was NOT in the 20th Michigan Infantry

Miles S. Adams served in the old 3rd Michigan Infantry; he survived the war and eventually returned to his home in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he lived out his days.

Miles died in 1902 and was buried in section 4, Fulton Street Cemetery.  His government marker lists him as having served in Company A 20th Michigan Infantry.

In fact, Miles served  first in Company K, 3rd Michigan and then after he resigned he reentered the service as a lieutenant in the Company A, 20th Veteran Reserve Corps (the "Invalid Corps), as noted on his pension index card:
