A primary objective of this project has been to collect, collate and publish updated biographical sketches of each and every one of the 1,411 men who, at one time or another, served in the first organization of the Third Michigan Infantry.
I am presently publishing one bio per day until they area ll online. Of course, the biographies published online are not the final word on the lives of these men (and one woman).
PLEASE NOTE: While I have uploaded all the bios alphabetically, in order to access any particular bio you will have to search the blog archives (by year, then by month). A bit awkward but there you have it.
The paper trail is severely limited but fortunately new information is always coming to light through diaries, letters, or even photographs, that family members and collectors are willing to share with the public. It is the express hope of this project to share that information as it becomes available.
If you can help by all means do so. Sharing the information preserves it and hat's the ultimate goal of this project.
