There are literally thousands of websites dedicated to the American Civil War, but little is available online regarding the Third Michigan Infantry. There is my Wikipedia entry on The 3rd Michigan Infantry and my blog where I post Third Michigan Infantry biographies online.
If you're interested in reenacting, you can contact the folks at Company F, Third Michigan Infantry. Don Harvey's huge online Michigan in the Civil War project is also readily accessible but this site lumps both the original and reorganized Third Michigan Regiments together in its rosters.
For a broader collection of information, the state of Michigan has several superb databases online. One of them is a searchable list of cemeteries statewide. And another wonderful resource in Lansing is the state digital collection.
And speaking of Michigan, another good source of online information can be found at Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War Michigan Department.
The Michigan Family databases is another excellent resource and is the repository of many records that have been uploaded and is free of charge, as is their 1894 veterans and widow census.
You can also order pension records online directly from the National Archives.
